Martin Rochon on behalf of SHA-SC: Had a wonderful time attending the Sandbox Centre's Breakfast Networking Event and connecting with other residents of the City of Barrie and of City of Orillia to discuss social innovation initiatives including the Seniors Housing Alliance - Simcoe County (https://lnkd.in/gGFBCNNJ) and numerous other initiatives where volunteers have an enormous impact on improving people's quality of life.

City of Barrie Community Planning Permit System (CPPS) project - Community Consultation Meeting
Gwen Kavanagh (SHA-SC & Barrie CARP) and Martin Rochon (SHA-SC, Barrie CARP, and NAFAR - Huronia) were delighted to attend on behalf of the Barrie Canadian Association of Retired Persons - CARP, the Seniors Housing Alliance - Simcoe County, and the National Association of Federal Retirees - Huronia Branch.
A big thank you to Shelby White (City of Barrie), Liam Munnoch (City of Barrie), Susan Hall (Luron Consulting), Sean Hertel (Hertel Planning), and Annika Hui (Hertel Planning) for a very productive and enlightening conversation. We are very appreciative of the great care that each person showed for carefully considering the input and comments from community members in regard to making Barrie the best possible city for the quality of life for seniors, as well as for students and all generations.

Seniors Housing Alliance – Simcoe County Attends Intergenerational Class

Mirza, Ph.D. for inviting me to attend his University of Toronto HST308 - Aging and Health Intergenerational Class at Christie Gardens in Toronto. Thank you for the opportunity to facilitate one of the case studies with a truly amazing integrational team composed of U of T students and Christie Gardens Residents. A great experience.
Amazing positive energy and amazing and profound interactions from all attending generations. Great case presentations and analysis from every team!
Additionally grateful for the interactions and knowledge exchanges with: U of T faculty Dr. Christopher Klinger & Dr. Franco Taverna, Sue Lantz & Nadia Abuseif from Collaborative Aging, Marta Hajek from Elder Abuse Prevention Ontario , and U of T PhD Candidate and TA Jessica Hsieh.

Professor Martin Rochon is currently conducting an initiative to concurrently mitigate social isolation for seniors and university & college students by creating opportunities for students and seniors to interact with each other on a regular weekly basis. Current initiatives conducted include the Barrie and Simcoe County areas and are available in English, French, and Polish.
